Do the 60s Dodge trucks make you sick?

And the 70 and 71? I've never owned one but I always wished I did until a buddy of mine got an old 1971 former Air Force Dodge and I rode around in it. Jeez, every time I tried to look out the concave outer edges of the windshield it was like looking through someone else's glasses while trying to walk. I believe it's called "motion sickness with optokenetic stimuli" if you like fancy lingo. Whatever you call it it prevents me from buying this cool pickup. :'(

(I'm not quite sure what to think of that goofy wiper arm though) :shruggy:

Never found it in the Dodge trucks.  I get it a littlein the late 50's Fords if I look to much towards the outer edges of the fenders.

Drove one as a daily driver for a couple years. Never noticed it.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Mine is my daily driver, and I couldn't love it more. I've got less than $3k in it, including the wheels and tires. I have never noticed any discomfort from the glass, but I have always had a high tolerance for motion sickness. I get 14-21mpg with the 318-2bbl.
I'm on the way towards hopping the engine a little and replacing the truck tranny with an a833 and overdrive.

does putting your prom picture in the add help sell the truck?  :shruggy:

There is really something to that phenomenon.  My '60 C500 has pretty much the same cab as the mid/late 50s pickups, with a pronounced curve in the windshield vertical edges (way more than in the sweptline and later series).

On the 1000mile trip I made to the 'Nats in 2005, I had to be careful in how I sat behind the wheel.  If I slouched over to the door in an attempt to get comfortable, that put my field of vision too much into the curved part of the windshield.  Spending a couple minutes like that was OK, but very much longer and it would make my eyes ache and really give me a whopper of a headache.  Of course, it was hard to distinguish if the headache was from windshield distortion or noise from the unmuffled exhaust pipe stacks that run right behind my head...

That's for damn sure. I had a 64 Dodge with a 6 ft bed that had 8 lug wheels and with heavy  springs and  my ass was only on the seat 50% of the time. I hit my head  on the roof a few times  hitting  bridge joints, those were a killer. :Twocents:

I bought a 71 D100 earlier this year for $300, got it running and driving good for around $500 more. That truck was great! Bucket seats, big block, AC, PS, PB, and what I loved was that the cab seemed huge compared to my '94 Sentra daily driver. (10 mpg compared to 40 though...)

I figured it was because the windshield in the truck was almost vertical, as I had to lean forward to reach the rearview mirror in the truck. In the Sentra with the slanted windshield it makes the cockpit much smaller and the mirror is right up near your face just about.

I've got the sickness too! Factory Super Bee running gear. 383, auto, 3.55 Suregrip. I bought it out of Phoenix Az last year (these things like to rust).
