all too often, in the heated discussions that we have on this forum, we tend to forget what makes us citizens of this country, Americans.  Staff Sergeant Giunta is a hero, not just for what he did, but for how he views himself.

I salute him as we all should.  For he is a true American hero of the highest caliber.

Reflecting back on the historic day, he said it was "an incredible time, but also bittersweet," because of the loss of his two fellow soldiers -- Specialist Hugo Mendoza, and Sergeant Joshua Brennan who died on that ridge that night. it's a tough medal to earn.......and can be even tougher to live with.....it's weight can crush a man..he'll need the support of his friends and family for a long time......I wish him the best....

Tilar....not sure about the medal but you can ask any president to sign your military retirement papers.....during the Clinton era I know a lot of people who asked George senior and even Ronald Ragen to sign their's...they didn't want slick willie's signature on their retirement certificate.....
