Do you think cars have a quality that can only be described as "personality"?  Do you see it through individual cars if you see it all or is it just between models (a Charger has different quirks than a Cuda but all Chargers have the same quirks), or maybe only between brands?  Or do you not see it and tend to think of them strictly as a machine?

I know my Charger has a personality. I'd say it was strong, silent and very, very patient!

Of course some cars have more personality than others,.. The bone stock Camry or Pius?.. not so much, they are like clones.. While personalised cars or objects can have a spirit often put there by their owner in it's modification and/or use,..  there's really no other way to describe it, like when a car or guitar gets a sweet spot because of the way it's "Broken in" by it's owner... just my off the cuff thoughts and a couple feelings on the subject...
I know my "Skunk" has a personality most folks recognise that right off the bat.

I think they definitley have personality. My Suburban is like a big work horse. Rides good and will pull anything that I want to put behind it but it does like some hay.  My 73 Charger, even though I've only put a couple hundred miles on it seems like a cat on a hot tin roof... It just wants to go. My Buick is just layed back and stylin.  :apimp:

Each one of mine have their own respective little quirks/personalities.  My 70 SS454 for example, is about a cold natured bitch as a car can get.  My 69 Malibu just plugs along, never misses a beat.  The Charger..I swear that car is possessed sometimes.

Mine had the personality of a wild horse.  It took great pains ( and money ) to break it.  Now I am king and ride it in pleasure anytime I want.  This was the first year from spring to winter ( almost ) it was turn key ready with no issues.  Every once and a while it tries to kick me off ( Battery needs replacement ) but I resist ( put battery charger on it over night ) and climb back in and prove who is the boss.  ( outside of my wife ).  :icon_smile_big:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I think my Charger is a lil lazy at the moment. I know she's got the same personality as my GF sometimes, but who doesn't need a bit of bitchiness in their life? (New rear ends in both cases could solve these issues.)
But I'm in both of these relationships for the long haul and eventually they'll both come good I'm sure.
I'd hate to have to send her off to the junkyard

Gotta love a '69

u take 5 cars made one after the other all with the same parts and they will drive differently.... as for my Charger, yeah, it's got personality, and that personality is a bitch most times LOL

Every single car or truck I've owned has had it's own quirks that defines it. Certain squeaks, rattles, steering, road behavior, or whatever, they're all different. Even comparing the most of one type of car I've had, B-Bodies, were similar, but not identical.

Hey Brock, your SSSSSSSSSSSSS pic reminded me of this one.

Certainly. All of mine behave in specific ways, even from the same make/model.
Some will never quit or complain, some run like bats out of hell without ever needing a tune and some are just plain trouble, both while being wrenched on and driven.

Most of you know what I mean, that one ugly, rusty SOB that will skin all your knuckles, give you bruises, fill your eyes with rust and then refuse to start once all the work is done :RantExplode:

If you think about it, why would they NOT have personalities? People are machines too, just very, very complex ones when compared to a car. Maybe this is why new cars are so damn dull, they haven't had time to develop quirks yet

As for the charger... Passive-Aggressive is the best term I can think of. It's not trying to fight me, but it sure is dragging its heels!
