1969 Dodge Charger Ride Along: Climbing Palo Duro at Chryslers in the Canyon

I just posted the roll out video in the picture thread, but this is solely Charger...

Since folks didn't stick around for the "exit video" from the canyon I had card space left and figured what the heck.  If nothing else I thought it would promote the event and the park and maybe inspire some of you to join us next year or take part in a "Chargers in the Canyon"  :2thumbs:

Just so you know the video isn't professional, I just kind of winged it...my apologies for the park pass on the dash.  I took things pretty slow to kind of showcase the scenery and give you an idea of what it would be like to run the hill at the canyon.  I threw in a few shots from the passenger window as well...really gives you an idea of the terrain and change in elevation.  When it was uploaded I had two conclusions.  I wish I would have had the blackouts on the hood and I just couldn't help but regret not seeing if they wouldn't maybe sometime close the road for a real "run"  :coolgleamA:  But that is another story...

Here it is...hope you enjoy riding along as I climb out of the canyon in:

And a bonus vid...Shot this one going down hill.  You'll see more of the terrain and if you wait to the end you'll be greeted by some very nice Mopars, including a PettyBlue 72 Charger  :icon_smile_cool:  (FYI: We were going very slow because the next bend had the hairpin where the photographer was set up).

I had hoped everyone here would enjoy the vids, particularly the "Canyon Climb."  I was within about 40 seconds of maxing my card out and there was a string of mundane suvs around the next bend so I cut it off.  There was a good 1.5-2 minutes left in all honesty, not as dramatic, but still some cool scenery, overlooks, and long horns  :yesnod:

If I get the time I will try to head back down there and shoot another one as you go down into the canyon...

I wanted everyone to kind of get a feel for what it was like and how the scenery shaped up as if you were behind the wheel of your Charger.

Everyone had a great time at the show, I think all the brisket was gone, and folks left with a smile.  I couldn't ask for anything more than that!

cool videos!! thanks for sharing!! :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Glad you liked it!  If time allows I might run down there and get a little "quicker" video at some point.  I also have a lot shot from the wheel, just not with the scenery...most of our roads are flat and straight.  Anyone care to guess what speed the wipers are overcome at?

Looks like a great time was had by all!!  Wish I could have been there and I am very happy for  you.  Hope to be there next year!

Yeah it was a great time...I just wish it lasted longer  :icon_smile_big:

You'd definitely have a great time.  Hopefully things will line up and you'll be able to make it up next time around.  We would love to have you and the Charger join us Carl!

I will try and get some still shots extracted from the video and a few more pics up soon.  A guy that came over from Oklahoma had a good camera and got a frontal shot of my Charger (which I'm sure most everyone will hate thanks to the blacked out grille), but it has 2 or 3 Chargers in the background and on either side...it is a pretty cool shot.

If I can line up the pieces I might make more of a "correct" grille.  It has been an item on my list of things to do for quite some time, I just plan to do it when this motor is out and I'm building the stroker...which might start up this off-season.  Until then you'll just have to deal with the 100% blackout  :D

I'll also try to get some shots of most of the Chargers up.  I would have liked to have 66-74 accounted for, but our 1st gen guys were stuck working.  Did finally get 68-70 in the same place, but sadly I didn't get my picture of the Triad Triumvirate!

Getting pretty late and I've got a show in the morning, but here is something for the 3rd gen fans...

Very nice 72 wrapped in Petty Blue with a salty 440 about to descend into the canyon:
