I have a complete stock 68 440 HP2.  It has everything on it minus the tranny.  By the looks of the motor I would say it is bone stock and untouched.  Some numbers stamped on the block are as follows:

D 440  Then a sideways A
5-17   HP2

On the exhaust manifolds
E158
2806900 H 4

Side of block
10-10-67
2536430 8

back of block where it meets the tranny
G259272.

I have a guy who is interested in the thing.  I consider him a buddy and will probably give him a deal on the old thing.  Just curious on everyones opinion on its value and I will go from there.
I will most likely do a trade with him for a rebuilt motor he has and extra cash from me.

The last number is the VIN - plant and sequence #, though there should be a 8 before the G.
