Nice pictures. Yes, That was an impressive line of 3rd gens. I was there in my 2nd gen (red 70 Charger). Seems like where ever I go I am the only 70. There was another very nice red 69 Charger there too. I like how this show place the cars by body styles.

I am not sure but maybe we can get KWS to bring out his black one, but I think it's a 72 Charger.

Nice group of pictures, thank you for sharing.

Troy, I still think about Whitey from time to time.  It was a one of one of a very rare breed.  Wish I had been in the position to buy it when it came up for sale.

Here is a photo taken this past June of my '71 R/T and my younger son's '71 S/E 383 Magnum when he was home on leave from Annapolis.  He has done a lot of work to it since then. but I will let him post those photos himself.

May God bless America,

Would love to see more pics of that gunmetal S/E Charger!  I'm planning to take mine back to the stock gunmetal color as well.

I agree with Foreman  :2thumbs: Paladin, your RT is sweet! and I hope your Son stays safe  :yesnod: his SE is a nice ride too!

Thank you for the very kind comments on my R/T.  Believe me, though, it has more than its fair share of war wounds.  It is a work in progress; both of my sons grew up helping me on the car.  As you can see, the younger one is definitely an old Mopar man.  The older one, who is also a midshipman at Annapolis, has a bit of his mom in him when it comes to cars.  She always liked the Pontiac Firebird, and those have been his chosen rides, along with an old Mopar from time to time.

More so, thank you for the best wishes for my younger son.  The older one graduates this academic year, and wants to go Marine Corps.  The younger one plans on following his older brother's plan.  Both are Mechanical Engineer majors.

Next year the younger will be allowed to have a car at Annapolis, so we will make a road trip in his SE.  My wife pointed out it would be the same thing as taking a '32 Ford across the country when I was in high school, but we always have a good time when we go.  Last time around, we took my older son's Trans Am up.

Hopefully, the younger one will post more photos of his SE on here when he gets the time.  The body on it is actually better than my R/T.  He cleared out his savings account to buy that car from an Army captain at Fort Hood, and he has worked really hard on it when he is home on leave.

Actually Paladin, your story is very similar to a Friend of mine in Arizona. He lives next door to his older Brother (and Mother) both Brothers are into 3rd Gen Chargers when I was there, there must have been 10 or more 71-72's including RT'S and Super Bee's but all needed Resto's.
The eldest Brother was into Pontiacs just like your Family  :yesnod: only difference is I don't think there's a Military connection like there is with your Son's.
War wounds on your RT? most of us have them it means you drive it and are not afraid to drive it  :2thumbs: I personally would prefer a car with a few War Wounds which I could drive, as opposed to having one that was perfect which made me nervous to drive IMO, most car's like ours are "work's in progress" it never really stops

I want to thank everyone for their kind words again on my R/T.

Husk was asking about the steering wheel.  As best as I remember (it has been a long time ago), I came up with that adapter out of a local junkyard.  Though it does look like an E-body can, it is actually a spacer/adapter made by Momo.  The cover for the spacer is actually a sort of heavy flexible black plastic.  The strange thing was the setup was on a Datsun 260Z.

The Momo leather wrapped steering wheel attached to it was rotting, but I pulled the entire assembly and took it home.  After doing some looking and measuring, I adapted it over to my R/T.  If you look closely, you can see the Momo adapter is narrower in circumfrence than the steering column.  I used an old CD painted flat black to act as a filler.  Once the holes were cut in it, it fit perfectly.

The steering wheel itself is a Grant signature series, and it bolted right up to the Momo adapter.  Everything works as good or better than a stock factory setup.

Texas Charger

Hello all,

I finally got around to posting some more pictures of my Gunmetal SE that's in the picture with Dad's R/T. I was home over the summer for about 3 weeks, so I made some progress on the car, mostly thanks to both Dad's knowledge on these cars and his R/T's example of one that's "done right."

So far the work I've done on my Charger includes a full front end rebuild, manual front disc brake conversion, front and rear swaybars, new exhaust system, new ignition system, and a Holley intake with a quadrajet carb, as well as a few other odds and ends here and there.
