Finally Got My Charger!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
I've been looking for a Charger for the past year and after 4 cars (1969 Coronet Super Bee, 1969 Cougar, 1974 Barracuda, 1957 Buick Special), I finally got my hands on a 1968 Charger. It makes me realize just how hard it is to find 68-70 Chargers. There's a 1969 Charger here in Laos, but since the seller was asking for a ridiculous price, I decided to buy my own... What really gets me mad is that he put in a Supra engine  What a total waste! Hopefully, he'll give up one day and sell it.
As of right now, the Charger should be on a boat and should arrive in Laos within a month.  Here's a couple of pictures.





Can't wait for it to arrive so I can start the restoration!!!

What kind of supra engine are you talking about in that 69?

All the information here is amazing. I'm glad I found the forum.

Deep down I feel I spent a little too much for the Charger... But I try to tell myself that these cars aren't getting any easier to find and also if I finally buy it, I wouldn't waste anymore time searching for a Charger and spend more time concentrating on my business. The car's from Boston, so it has a lot of rust issues and has no engine or transmission. Planning on putting in a crate engine. Experience trying to rebuild my 351w for my 69 Cougar has been hell. Hopefully the crate engine will be an easier route.
Btw, I paid 4200$ for the Charger. The guy selling the 69 was asking for 21,000... Way over my budget for a car with it's own issues. I hope he hits a dead end soon and is forced to sell

    Welcome and Congradulations Vsengdara!! first first Gen. Charger I've heard about in Asia... there's one in Pakistan but it's a third Gen. '72 I belive. welcome to the site, awaiting details of your plans and pics... (even of the other cars)

One good thing about Laos is the low labor cost. I think it's especially good for these projects since they can be so time consuming. Just recently I began to understand that restoring these cars requires a whole lot of patience. My 69 Cougar has been sitting at the garage for the last 2 months without any further progress because of no parts... I finally made the final order for parts. In all, researching and buying parts took almost 1/2 a year.
As I mentioned before - the low labor cost... It's by no means poor labor, exceptional work for the price. Check out my 69 Cougar

$4,200 isn't horrible. Yea, it's a bit too much but I don't see any 68 selling for less than about $3k these days no matter what shape it's in.

@bull: the supra engine is okay when you compare it to a 70 mustang with a 2 liter diesel engine.. can you imagine the sound of that engine... horrible!!! either way, putting japanese engines in american muscle cars is pretty retarded.

@rd: Yes, I'm Laotian, but grew up in Los Angeles for most of my life. Have been in Laos since 2000. Have a family and nice life here... probably wouldn't have the time or money to do resto-mods back in LA. I don't know if I just wasn't paying attention back then or were there a lot resto-mod projects going on?
