Should a Battery Tray be Tilted?

Have a 72.  took the original tray and brace out over 2 years ago.  Have a replacement tray - exact to the rusted one I took out.  What's odd is that when I connect the brace to the bottom of the tray and tighten it all up the whole tray is one bubble out of being level - slanted inward towards the engine.
I've turned that brace upside down and all around about 10 times. I am at a loss.  It just seems too short.
a) is this slant correct?
b) anyone have any pictures for reference?

Thank you.

Good question mine was tilted inwards in my charger and i always wondered the same thing. I packed the tray with a couple of washers to level it out.

Sounds like something is wrong there...

Funny you bring this subject up. I just saw a 440 Cuda Vert at the Auction at Hot August Nights (high ticket, $100k plus) that had the battery at a tilt. A very pronounced tilt, toward the engine. Had never seen that before, looked completely wrong.

I found a pic I took, it doesn't look tilted in the pic but it sure was. If you zoom in on the pic you really can't tell the angle, but it had to be 15-20 degrees off.

I don't know what to say, but it didn't look right.  :shruggy:

Ah the mystery grows deeper.
I asked my father who purchased the car and he thought the battery was level.
The kicker is that I have an original car (never damaged in the front end) and an original bracket yet I have a tilt.
I started to think it was for drainage purposes, but that does not seem right.
Maybe it's personal preference at this point.

Maybe the battery weight caused them to weigh down through time??
