Return line spitting gas

  I was driving around some today and when I got home gave it a rev and after it returned to a idle shut it off. I had just installed a hard line on my eldelbrock and was checking again for leaks when I spotted gas spitting out the vent gas line. I couldn't say if it just started to do this but I did just find out about this. The line is not covered or anything so do I need to put some kind of catch on it, like a vapor seperator? Doesn't seem very safe and I would hate for it to fireball.

The second line running from the gas tank, which I thought was for the vapor seperator or gas fumes.

If not hooked up correctly and in use it needs to be capped off.

I capped it off and made sure it was away from the header.
