Whats with the green paint?

These are the rims off of my 73 Rallye. I'm going to have them sand blasted and repaint them before I put some new tires on. Anyone have any idea why there would be a green ring on the inside of all of these rims?

And does anyone by chance have the name for the correct silver color for these rims?

Argent silver (not textured).   Have no clue why a green line would be around the rim like that.

Im assuming someone did that to identify a matching set as far as the green paint is concerned....Probably  someone with many sets of rims laying around  and didnt want them to get mixed up

They are the original rims on the car.

also could be from fix a flat, worked in a tire store and saw lots of stin rims from that nasty stuff

The green is/was exactly at the same spot all the way around on all the rims. It had to be intentional.

Anyway, they've been sandblasted and I repainted them. Got a new set of Uniroyals on them and back on the car. I had just never seen anything like it and wondered why.

I just moved my ralley rims some had a green stripes like yours and the rest had blue stripes. the only differance i found was the rims width. All the green ons were the same and all the blue ones were the same. Don't ask me what was what I don't remember. My son might be able to wiggle back there and shoot a picture if he didn't burry the front side.

MAybe that was a quick way to tell the width when they were on the line.
