Back in '71, the Shah and the US were allies (us older guys remember the Shah of Iran),,,,,,,,,, so no embargo then.. Importing American cars probably happened frequently..........

I'm 44 so I remember the Shah when I was much younger.  Yeah, you're right, we were allies then and cars had to have crossed over.  He sure got his hands on a nice one.  Not the Shah, the new guy.   :lol:
