TTi headers question

Hi
I'm installing TTI headers to my 68 Charger with the 383. Having no lift, the drivers side was a real pita ! The passenger side went in without any hassle.

However the tie rod and idler arm clear the passenger side header only by around 1/4 inch  :o

A bit close to my taste. What would be the minimum safe distance?

I don't want to brutalize my expensive ceramic coated headers unless I really have to.

Cheers

You might want to call TTI to see what they advise: http://www.ttiexhaust.com

(951) 371-4878

I have seen lots of them hammered on. Including mine, by the folks who built the car. :brickwall:

Mine were snug to the idler arm and torsion bars as well....i wouldn't be concerned with 1/4in clearance.  ;)

In fact I was mistaken about the 1/4 inch clearance: they very slightly TOUCH the idler arm/center link but as there is vertical play in my idler arm the idler arm/center link moves under the headers. At the max there is only 1/8 of an inch.

I'm not quite sure if I'm explaining it clearly?

I am on verge of putting headers on my 68 383 car, but have not bought the headers yet. Everyone says to buy TTI because the fit is perfect. I will be watching this thread to see how things go.

Good luck!

Al

Just finished installing the complete TTI exhaust system. I'm going to fire the beast up during the weekend.  :drool5:

Just fired up the engine. The sound of the headers and the TTI exhaust system is impressive  :o. And so is the increase in power. I would never have imagined that there would be such a dramatic difference over the iron 906 heads.

By the way my new Lunati Voodoo (268 deg int.) has a nice decent lope in idle and pulls like a freight train in mid range.  :drool5:
