I just bought a 1969 Chrysler 300 a project driver. The dash pad is very clean looking with no cracks. It is a little hard, but not terrible. The dash is oozing sticky fluid. Is there any products out there to clean it up? I would love to save it. Thanks Johnny  :METAL:

Any specific area it's oozing out of more than another?

I'm wondering if someone had used a harsh cleaning product that is actually dissolving the vinyl?   :shruggy:

There are many products that could start eating away at plastics, especially if they aren't removed from the surface fast enough.

I never seen it on Mopars, but some rubber products of that era (especially foam rubber) are known to break down into a thick tar like substance.

The car sat for years with a reflectice cover along the windshield, to block the sun UV rays. I tried to clean it off, it seams to be getting better. I will need to use a stronger chemical though. I was using Pledge multi surface cleaner.

Something like simple green or fantastic will take it off. I have that happen to some of my cars in Texas that sit a long time.

Your dash may have been painted/dyed along the way and now that finish is failing.  Try rubbing alcohol, diluted at first, adding strength if necessary.  Obviously in a out of sight test spot at first.  Good luck.

Simple green is great stuff, but I would not use it here, it has left a white film on my vinyl in the past.  I have a 69 Town & Country and it had the same dash problem when I got it.  I used a citrus based cleaner (like goo gone or citrus power) and it worked great! clean and not sticky!  How about a pic of your 300?  And do you get to www.cbodydrydock.com?  It's a great site for C bodies like this one is for the Chargers!!

thats the solvents in the dash materials outgassing and breaking down. it will keep happening, and eventually the foam and vinyl will crack apart and crumble. you cannot stop the process or seal it in. its also highly toxic.

you should replace all the foam and vinyl dash parts.
