So, I haven´t had before old big block engine.. Now I would like to know, how high can I rev it when accelerating, 5000rpm? 5500rpm? 6000rpm? Or what??  :scratchchin:

I do not want to blow it. It is 1969 440cid Magnum engine with Holley Street Avenger 670cfm carburator and cam is some little stiffer cam than original magnum cam.. It revs easily up to 6000rpm, I haven´t try higher rpm´s because I don´t know what would be right high rpm limit to this kind of engine. I think these usually makes maximun power somewhere 4500-5500rpm, but now, how high can I rev it without breaking it?  :scratchchin: There is no rev limiter I think, maybe I should get limiter when I just know where to set it.

And what would be good maximum spark advance to it? 35 degrees? 40 degrees?  :shruggy: When idling, spark advance is now 10 degrees before, I raised it to 10 from 5 what was there when I got it.

With the stock oiling system I limit the 440 to 6000 rpm.

38° total would be the max I would run and only if there's no pinging, 34-36° would be safer.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
