68 rear ash trays

After a little prodding I get the feeling that the rear armrest ash trays do not come out of the armrest. Do they come out someway that I am missing?

I tried getting mine out once to clean them but I think they're glued in.

Yea, they come out and usually pretty easily. Raise the lid, grab the edges of it with your thumb and forefinger and start tetering it back and forth. The trays are supposed to come out but not the base ring. And even if those come out it's not the end of the world.

Yeah, the base ring has tabs that anchor it into the walls of the hole for the ashtray. You can pry the tabs out and remove it to clean it. You put it back in, press the tabs almost all the way back in, then inserting the ashtray will force them out the rest of the way.

Sometimes the ashtray will rust into the ring tabs and be difficult to separate.
