Switching gears in 8 1/4 rear.. easier to swap gears or just swap full axle?

I think I'm one of the few here actually going to a taller gear for better highway cruising and higher speed for my goal of doing some open road racing.  I have an 8 1/4 axle with 3.55 gearing in the car now and just bought a full 8 1/4 axle that has a 2.76 in it.  Which would actually be easier to do, leave the current axle on the car and swapout the insides or just switch the complete axles? (I would have to put in new brake lines and clean the thing up)

Swap the whole rear end...easier than changing & setting up ring & pinion backlash

Sounds like a full axle swap it will be, it will be nice having both setups if I ever want to go back to 3.55's  I'm old enough that I feel I don't need to leave rubber from stoplight to stoplight anymore (ok, once in a while it's still fun) plus there is something wrong with getting passed by everyone and their grandmother on the highway in this car.

It's a simple bolt removal and swap in.....you just gotta change your speedo pinion gear in the trans so your speedometer will read correctly

If you're anywhere near Frederick, MD. I've got a complete 8.25 with 2.45 gears you can have.
