Here's the deal. A local Mopar guy has been pestering me pretty badly for about 2-3 months now trying to get my car. He has a pretty nice 71 Duster and or cash. He's a serious buyer and has the means to do so. I have had this car for quite a few years and have been collecting parts for them since the mid 80's so I have pretty nice trim and interior stuff. Excellent unbroken grille, a lot of the hard to find parts. I've been seeing some "rough" 2nd gen Chargers going north of $4,000 lately. And you're not getting much! So here's the question and a link to a few pics. I just want an honest answer as to the value of this car. I have new carpet, windshield gasket, buddy seat, headliner, A body disc brake set up, new emblems, perfect running late model 440,with two 727 transmissions, #489 center section with 3:23 Sure Grip and 11 inch brakes, Arizona car with very, and I mean very little rust ever.I have seats, upper door pads, dash padding, gauge cluster, heater controls and heater box, very nice Dodge Solid State AM radio and probably a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right off the top of my head. You get the idea if it was missing I made an effort to find it in good usable condition over the years. The car has bondo in the quarters from dents and creases. Originally a 318/auto car now being transformed into an R/T clone (yeah I know) Looking for honest opinions about actual cash value. I do not need to, and am not actively looking to sell this car. I just thought I would try to get a better idea of it's value in case I need to. Check out the pictures in the slideshow and let me know what you honestly think. Don't worry I won't be offended. And it's not like it would be the first time ever anyways. See car below.

Your picture profile is set to private.  Looking at the one picture, it looks like the car is very clean.   Here's my opinion if it's worth anything.  The good is the car is clean and you have a bunch of parts.  The bad is the car is apart, needs paint, slight body work, originally a 318 car.

Depending on what this guy is offering, I would say you have some room to play with though.  You can always sell the engine, trans, interior and other parts to make up some of money-or use as a negotiating tool. :2thumbs:

If I was in the market for a 318 clean car with the parts you have, I would pay around $5 - $6k for it.  I've seen some 68 - 70 RT's that need full restoration for around $9 - $10k.

World according to Mike..... :smilielol:

Ooops,

Thanks for pointing that out Mike. I reset my profile to public. Now let me know what you "really" think!

I don't doubt it's clean based on the pictures.  BUT, it is a 318 car.  So, if someone is looking for a clean car to make a resto mod and not interested in it being an original RT or big block car, you may get more money for it.  3 years ago it would be a different story based on the money thing..   :Twocents:

Good luck.

That is a tough one right now.  Original metal cars are hard to come by but running driving cars are easy to come by right now.  Its hard to find and original metal car right now and i think you could get a fair amount of money for the right buyer looking for an original metal car at the right time.   (ya i know i'm captain obvious)

I would keep your price high on the car, even though you say its "just a 318 car".  69 Charger original metal cars dont come along every day, just my  :Twocents:.

Do you really want a 71 Duster (+cash) or do you really want a 69 Charger?  I know what i really want. .    :yesnod:   (for the last 30 years, and i'm 35)

Paul?

I think I sold you a hood latch a while back? Anyways this "deal" came to me. Dusters have grown on me over the years, especially the 70-71's The most attractive feature to the whole thing is cutting out a lot of the grunt work. And lets be honest my car still needs a ton of work and money put into it. But then I go from something really cool and unusual to "just a Duster".  So after a while of this and watching ebay and some recent purchases here I'm thinking "Well what is this thing really worth" because I have never seriously entertained any thoughts of selling it, and really still am not too keen on the whole idea. I guess I'm researching just for fun. Did you check the link? Did it work? Mike said I had my profile set to private and nobody could view it. If you did obvioulsy you were able to come to a pretty good conclusion of what's there. Like I said I was converting the car to an R/T clone and yeah I know that bothers some guys but I just like the way they look better and never intended to pass it off as any thing other than a clone. Being a 318 car automatically makes some guys shy away because it's not "muscle" But at the end of the day it is basically the same car.
