Can I swap a 1988 A904 for my 1968 A904 transmission?

yes, make sure you have the converter that goes with the 88 trans as it is "most likely" a lock up converter.  need pic's of input shaft to be certain though.  i believe all 904's were lock ups, but some 727's were both lock up and non-lock up.

Ok I'm about to pull the trigger on a A904 trans out of a 88 Ramcharger that had a 318, it was 2 wheel drive and it comes with the torque convertor.
Will this trans bolt up to my 68 318?
Is there anything else I will need?

it will bolt up directly to your 318 without any issues.  if you havent already, check the pan for any debris.
