Exhaust manifold butterfly valve

The butterfly valve on the passenger side exhaust manifold on my engine is loose & just bounces open & closed and makes a racket while it's running. Can I just wire it open without hurting anything?

you can remove and seal the shaft holes...

or replace the piece, they are available still, but not cheap

Mine is wired open for the last 2 years. Had no problem.

Mine is stuck in the open position as well.  Has been since I bought the car 7 years ago.
I remember as far back as my Dad's big blocks ... they always made noise when they work, even new.
