Okay I restored all the gauges, the cluster and everything works but the OP gauge.  I have a new sending unit that tests ok with a multimeter when the car is running but no reading from the gauge.  Any ideas?

it si a simple circuit , 5v pulsing is fed from the regulator to the guage & then to ground through the sender so either the guage is open & power is not getting through the guage , or the guage is not getting 5v as needed , or the wire to the sender is broken , or the sender or the grounding of the sender is not working

Did you test the gauge itself?   Mine was burnt out in my car

What is the best way to test the gauge?

Remove the lead from the sending unit and ground it. Key the ignition switch on. The gauge will go full scale if the gauge and wiring are ok.

The guys came to put in the windsheild yesterday and got stuck in trim clip hell so that ate up most of the day.  I did get my grill finished and plumbed up. my hood-mounted turnsignals installed and finished off the radio antenna however.  I also located a set of front seat belts and some bumper brackets I needed so I am going there this mroning then I will dive into the wiring.  I'll keep you posted

Some pics would be great.  However, I know that time is crucial at this point.

Awesome Jet!  Thanks.

Are you gonna put a bit of orange overspray on your negative batt cable?

Just a thought.

I thought of it but I guess I am just too much of a neat person.  I like the look of it the way it is but it is sick that I had to think about it for a few days.

Okay I have a pulsating 5-6 volts on both posts of the oil pressure gauge when the ignition is on.  So that means the gauge must be bad?

What happened when you grounded the connection to the sending unit? Did the gauge go full scale? If the gauge was open you wouldn't see 5 volts on both terminals.

IT WORKS!

Okay here is the deal, the gauge had the pulsing voltage on both posts so it seemed good.  The sending unit would show resistance that changed with the motor running so it seemed good.  I could not get continunity between the post on the gauge that feeds the sending unit and the bulkhead connector.  It turns out that the connection with the cluster and the wiring harness was not good due to the connector on the circuit board being bad.  I thought of pulling my cluster out of the dash but decided that sucked too much so I ran a jumper from the gauge post to the wiring harness and spliced it into the sending unit lead and the f*cking thing worked.

Now I can get my seats and console in.  Wohoo!
