Fisrt off I know this site is for chargers. However I have a lead on a possable 72 Demon. A guy from work told me about it. I want to go check it out but don't know much about Demons. To be honest I am hoping to but the car and make some money on it to fund my 68 charger project. I just don't know how to tell if it is a True Demon. I thought that all Demons had 340's in them but the guy from work tells me the car has an original six cylinder. I was hoping someone could give me a few numbers to look for to tell me if this is actuallly a 340 demon or just another duster.  I was also told that it does have the twin hood scoops, but those could have been added by anyone. Well any help would be appreciated. Thanks Troy

Demon was the Dodge "me too" after the success of the Duster in 1970.  Powertrain could be slant six, 318 or 340.  A Demon 340 will start have a VIN that goes like LM29H2Bxxxxxx.  That "H" is the 340.  It will be a "B" or"C" if it's a slant six and a "G" if it is a 318 car.  I believe the scoops were available on any of them.

I think the scoops were a 71 thing and the 72's may have had the "T/A" style scoop on the steel hood... :scratchchin:

Exactly. On Demons (along with all Mopars), the 5th digit on the vin tag states the engine. As said, on Demons "H" meant 340.
