A R/T with a Bench?......  ahhhh,,,,,,,,,, no.........  or, Chris, correct me if I'm wrong......... Also, my former six pack ChargerR/T was a column auto car....

Troy, if you had an column shift, the you either had the buddy seat (C21) or just buckets and nothing in between. No XS Chargers came with a bench seat unless they were special ordered or installed at a later date.

Chris, Yes, my previous Charger R/T v-code did come with the buddy seat...... Think I even still have it... It didn't go with the car when I traded it for my '68 Hemi........ I changed out the column for a console column and placed a burnt ornage console in it........  Those where my younger years and if I had it now, that car I would have keep that way...........

For you 70 guys, how many of the Chargers actually wound up with a bench seat? I can only think of 1 Charger that I've ever seen with a bench seat. I've seen plenty of them with the buddy seat option, but only 1 comes to mind with a bench seat.
On a side note, has anyone ever found the build sheet for the survivor 70 Charger with the bench seat that was at Englishtown? I was looking at the buildsheet he has with the car, but it goes to another car. I believe his car was black, and the buildsheet was for a White car.

Danny, IIRC, that car has the correct sheet as well as a wrong one that was found inside the car. I can't say for sure that he has the correct sheet though?   Also, every XH Charger built came with a bench seat. It was not available on the XP and XS model. You don't see them often, because alot of people swap them out.

Here is an XH Charger interior

Edit:

Chris beat me too it, as he should have!!!

Well, I certainly don't qualify as an expert on the '70s, but I'll act like one for a minute with the help of Chris' Registry site...

All base Chargers (XH) were listed as getting the bench seat C2xx option, 9135 v8's, 181 /6's, for a total of 9316.

All 500's and R/T's were listed as getting the buckets.   According to that Production information, no XS bench seats were built.

I'll slink back to my pile of '69 information now...

Thanks for the update guys. Personally I tend to not look at too many of the 70's when I see them at shows. I know its not right, but I do make a bee line for most 69's at shows. Well especially the 500's when I"m lucky enough to see another one at a show. I just hadn't noticed very many 70's with a bench seat.

Hey 2fast4u, My girlfriend and I went to Wheels and Spokes about 8 years ago and saw that Charger. Used to stay at the Midway Motel in Hays whan I was going back and forth fron Den to KC. What's going on in Hays (or nearabouts) this summer? - dm

The guy said he sold the car 5 yrs ago and he said the new owner has it in the registry when I asked him for picks. Either he doesn't want me to see the car or he realy did sell it. The color was changed to orange and the bench seat was removed and thats all he knew.

When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

So the last time you had seen the car it was torn apart and in his garage. He was the origional owner, and kids came, and the project had come to a halt.

I was hoping you weren't fishing another story, but it sure smells that way.
