1974 charger window motor

hi - trying to get my passenger side power window to work - when i use the plus and negative from the battery and place it onto the 2 slot connector on the window motor it works and if i reverse the plus and negative on the 2 slot window motor connector it works in the other direction - but when place the window motor case to chassis ground try to place the plus side onto one of the 2 slot window motor connector it does not work.  is the chassis on the motor open and not connecting to door??  i am not sure what is happening.  My drivers side works fine.  i am not using the power window switch at all - just trying to get motor to work in both directions.  do i need another window motor??  thanks for any help.

- + the other way- down

motor connection is only thru the two wires- not the metal body.
