Hey Guys,

What's a complete running 68 HP 383, all original including carb and HP manifolds going for these days?  I know everyone wants a 440 and the 383 isn't a HUGE coveted item, but I have access to a complete one from an original 68 Charger as well as the 727.   It would be a package deal.  I was thinking maybe $500-$1000 range.  Too low?  Too high?  The owner of the 68 is going to sell me all of his original parts when we dive into the 6.1L swap next year.

And I also have a Dana 60, 4.10 posi from a 68 GTX complete drum to drum.  This is actually going into my 69 Charger, and I have the HD 7 leaf springs and a matching driveshaft to go with it, but I was offered $1800 for it as it sits now from a guy who needs it for a resto project.  The rear is in great shape and I like to help guys restoring projects since I don't really need the rear, but it would be nice to have it under the Charger!  Just wanted to see what a fair price would be. :scratchchin:  I think $1800 is too low, but not sure.

Thanks guys!

Cheers

A few years back I passed on a whole 1975 440 and trans for 700.00. Do not sell a 383 short they are a very good engine, if my car had one in it when I got it (it had a 440) I would have stayed with it. Price depends on condition if it is a known good running not leaking/smoking/knocking with a good tranny known not to leak/slip.....well you get what I mean. I vote your on track already on both.  :2thumbs:

Police interceptor I believe is is a ford terminology. :poke: .700 is probably about wright, not a bargin for a 75 440/727 were I live.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

As far as terminology....you're probably right....It was removed from a Halletsville, Tx  sheriff departments 70 polara....or monaco....one of the two
