What goes inside the drip railings? I am getting the charger painted and it looks to me that there was something there from factory? Where can i get them if there is something in there. Thanks alot!

Can you be more specific? Inside where?

On the roof where the water drains down (inside the Channel). I looked inside mine and it seems like there was a seal, because I can see cracks and it does not appear to be metal! I just want to make sure. If there is something there I would like to get it painted along with the rest of the car.

The drip rail itself is welded to the car. Sealer was applied on the seam between the drip rail and roof before paint. This is usually pretty visible - like caulking. Various products have been discussed (3M makes one) but I can't remember any exact names right now. On the bottom side of the drip rail there is a foam type seal between it and the long piece of trim/weatherstripping that the top of the window sits against.

I just dug mine out with a wire wheel. You need to use a heavy duty 2 part epoxy seam sealer. I will go look at what I used. The std seam sealer out of a caulking tube won't cut it here. It is about 35 per tube. Tape everything off, apply and then smooth with an acid brush dipped in wax and grease remover to give a nice finish. It dries in a few hours. Then when you are ready to paint, it must be scuffed.

The sealer I used was 3m #8308 Heavy Bodied Seam Sealer. Any professional shop should have this or something that does the same. You need a special gun for application but its only about $60. Just consider that if you want it done right that $100 to repair correctly is a small cost.

Thanks I will have to ask my body guy! I will make sure something seals it up, it makes no sense to put all this money into the car and then take a short cut at the drip rails! Thanks for all the help. What sealer do they use for the joints on the quarter panels and trunk extensions? Might as well find that out while we are talking SEALERS! My quarters and trunk extensions are getting replace with AMD pieces!

I just used the 3M seam sealer in the tube that looks like caulking. They also make a seam sealer that is self leveling in the 3M Automix line. Had I known about that I may have choosen to use that one instead.
