Does anybody here know the length of an A-Body Straight shift drive shaft for a Big Block, 4-speed car?

Shortened mine for an automatic, now want my 4 gear back...

From the '68 parts book:

B2 with 8 3/4" axle, 833 4-speed and 340/383 engine the shaft is 48.60" long, 2 3/4" in diameter with 7290 u-joints. Automatic is 44.88" and 3" diameter.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

John, why do you suppose they would use a longer/smaller diameter shaft in a 4spd car than an auto? I've seen just the opposite in some other applications. :shruggy:

I know why the shaft is longer, but not why it's smaller..The A-body 4-speed is shorter than the 727, but wonder why smaller?...Hmmmmm...

Know about the length difference, was actually wondering about diameter .
