69 Gas Cap polishing ????

I know the rim is stainless and can be polished, but can tha gas cap?  There are little minor scuffs, scratches, and gouges around the gas cap that I would like to get out if possible.  Is this piece plated, or can it be polished?  I have the necessary compounds to do this, but don't wanna waste my time if its plated and not worth polishing.  I searched, but all I could find was threads on trim...

Sorry but you won't find any stainless there as both parts are plated pot metal.  A little metal polish though will likely still bring up some shine in them both.

  Chrome plated pot metal....most likely a waste of time to get imperfections out with a polisher....
