After starting my 68 Charger project and making a fool of myself for confusing a 383 with a 318 , yes I took a lot of ribbibg for that, but I have not done any car work for 25 years so cut me some slack. We decoded the fender tag and VIN and found everything to be origional. My friend and adviser suggested keeping the origional 383 and rebuilding it rather than replacing with a 440 and to see about restoring the origional air conditioning.

I have looked at some options on this and was wondering what sort of experiences everybody has had with factory air restoration. I did find that the heater core/evaporater is going to be costly.

Venture forth carefully and with your large wallett.

I've done 3 factory A/C and what I will tell you is that you must figure on replacing everything (everything) and anything less woudl be a bonus.

These systems were not that good to begin with and need a lot of attention.

Plan on 1500-2000 at best.
