Question about 68 charger hood. holes/ vents?

The hood on my project 68 charger has the 2 little reversed indent scoops on it and in the front of the indents are rectangular holes for something. Does anyone know what was in them?

there are other threads with pictures do a search use the term "Hood mounted" there should be a bunch...
the '70 style is different then the 68/69 style and most all Chargers have them very few don't BTW.

Nice road,floor it!,I lost one from the drivers side one day on a local highway,saw it fly out,hit the windshield and be gone. I noticed where it wsa and looked for it tow days later and found it in the gutter, amid lots of traffic,luckey EH.
