Check tire pressure and alignment, drive it really light on the peddle.

Good Lord, my '06 Dak 4.7 gets a pretty standard 17 to 19. Its only got the Catz and NO mufflers or goofy after muffler baffles (my Dak had 2!). Its very quiet at idle, and its NEVER at idle. 15 mpg? Darn dude you got some serious tune up issues or alignment problems or thirsty neighbors or thirsty "friends" with large lungs and 5ft. of garden hose. If it was me..and I was you... I'd purchase a new Ram hemi. I think the worse they do is like 16. In ten years, hell your fuel savings might pay for the truck! (Prolly not actually but BTW those new Rams are cool!!).

you have to remember that with this crappy 10% ethanol gas most cars won't be getting as much mpg as they used to

Wow, my '73 D200 with a 440, 727, and 4:10s gets that kind of mileage on the highway.

Sounds like it needs a serious bump up in compression.

If 17.4 is in town driving thats not bad.  Our new 2007 Caliber gets 19-20 in town. My old 1986 Honda Prelude gets about 19 in town. A good tune up and make sure all the sensors are working. No codes or check engine light is on will help. Driving with a light foot helps a lot. Nice smooth starts and stops.
