Hey all, I have a 69 Satellite that my dad and I are restoring. We can get a low milage, 5.7 Hemi (2006 i believe) and a Manual tranny out of a crashed truck for about 3K, so were thinking about doing that and building the motor to about 500Hp. The Plymouth is set up for a 440/727 right now, so what would be needed to do the swap? How much extra work would all the fabbing and computer tuning be? BTW we would just do the 440 and 727 but it would cost about 5 grand to get it all back together and running properly at about 500HP.

well aside from the engine and trans you will need all the wiring and possibly the instrument panel if it is tied to the network.  the truck tranny is probably bigger then the car model so i dont know if it will fit?

okay that doesnt sound too bad. We could cut the tunnel for the tranny and enlarge it with fiberglass or something

if you can fab you will save SOME $$$...     All in All - you'll be looking at the following

Oil Pan = $425
Motor Mounts = $150
Headers = $800
Fuel Tank / Pump = $900
Radiator/fans = $800

That is just to get the engine bolted in the car...    Be prepared for some computer wiring and some fabrication work ---  If you want a plug and play harness / computer you're going to add about $1750 to the price...      The truck trans is huge...    cut up your tunnel

In short a 500hp 440 would be cheaper / easier

I agree - the manual trans is HUGE and will be a bear to install in a Charger. The 2006 Hemi will also have MDS. None of the aftermarket computers will control it (at least they didn't) so you need to lock it out. Rolling_Thunder has done this before. I gave up and decided to use a 5.9 Magnum I had laying around.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
