this is more to give an answer to 472 R/T SE, who was asking some stuff on another thread. BUT maybe will help to several more ppl

I have to note THESE pics ( EXCEPT THE FIRST ONE ) came out from 3rd gen, but beside the diff look and design of the lap belt retractor from 2nd to 3rd gens the setup itself should it be the same. Anyway, retractor is not posted

You posted this pic what is the tipical 2nd gens setup for lap and shoulder belts option ( posted also for buddy seat LAP belt only ) we can notice on every bucket TWO female buckles, one is to the LAP belt and the other one is for the manually adjustable ( not retractable ) shoulder belt. 71s are the same but shoulder belt is STANDART.

I won't post the lap belt because is very DEFAULT AND LOGICAL setup. But will post the roof one ( 71 but 70 must be the same ). Naked roof for an easier view about location:

on this earlier setup I GUESS on 70s too, but on 71s, the seatbelt light is TIME DELAY FLASHER CONTROLED. WHERE THE LIGHT ( no matter if on Map light insert above cluster or on Dash frame ) is like the courtesy lights, constant negative by chassis, an switched posityive by the flasher, so bulb gets just one wire diff than chassis source. On Dash frame light, just like this:

wire should it be hooked to the time delay flasher, at same point than the courtesy ign key light

Once again, showing 71 setup, but 70 being I guess the same, here it shows the Map light insert FULLY EQUIPPED ( with driver convenience package too ) don't pay attention on the low fuel relay setup.

The ground for 71 NON DRIVER CONVENIENCE PACKAGE cars ( what are moslty of them ) the chassis ground arrives to the same plug than the yellow wire ( cavity at a side ).

To 70s, where the ONLY light for seatbelt is the one of dash frame, the source should it be splaiced at same point ilustrated on diagram OR to ign key light plug

To 71s with the extra light on dash frame, SUPOSELLY MOUNTED ON TUFF WHEELED CARS due the poor visibility of insert above the cluster cause the smaller diameter wheel, should get power at same point.

Really dunno on 71s, IF TUFF WHEELED CARS really got the seatbelt light above the cluster, and the insert was just for  the Map light, making the seatbelt light is just at dash frame the only one and the splice was the same but going to another location.

up 71s, no one setabelt buckle or retractor was wired down the carpet... since 72 is another story, where retractors where wired on 72/73 ( same as buckets/seats ), and female buckle is the wired section on 74 ( seats too ), what if wished can be posted with details

I guess my biggest question is why have the seat belt light for only the upgraded belt package?

I'm still waiting for the owner of the car with the white interior posted above to send more pictures and answer some questions.

:shruggy:

because shoulder were option ? and adding another thing to the C15 Package ?

however standart on SE ? if your one is SE then I think the light should it be standart already mounted, but... maybe missed ?

Yes, my car had the seatbelt light on the dash of my 73. Sorry I couldnt help with any pics, but the original seatbelts were not in the car when I bought it, in fact I got to put some seatbelts in I dont have any in it right now.

472 R/T SE

OK, I see.  Well some clarification is prolly needed there.  My car doesn't have it & neither has any other '70 Charger R/T SE or SE's I've seen.  :scratchchin:  To be honest, my Super Bee was the only car I've personally seen w/ the light (upgrade package).

My white book shows the same wording but it's '69-'71.

Nacho-RT74

71 ( nor 3rd gens ) aren't necesarilly with THAT light since they were at diff location above the cluster. That SPECIFICALLY piece as stated was theorically to tuff wheel equipped cars due the smaller diameter blocking the view of the light above the cluster.

As I allways say, thats' my understanding with all what I have read and see, dunno by A FACT if is in that way, because I have seen the "seatbelt" insert WITHOUT seatbelt warning light and just a map light ( or in fact some delete plate inserts ), and quite often you find dash pad even without the insert provision. So maybe is true the 71s are included on the same wording and package to 69-71. I haven't paid attention if they were SEs or not.

However should it be a fact since 72 all were with that light (  the insert above the cluster ) because is relay controled and seatbelts and seats are linked with the harness down the carpet, So they SHOULD have the light. Then the extra light on dash frame as stated should it be to tuff wheel cars...

BUT I HAVE SEEN TUFF WHEEL CARS without that light ( dash frame ) too.

MMM, SORRY IF I'M TOWARD TO 3RD GENS about the info, but is what I know a little bit, and just trying to compare packages
