Mine is inbetween core suport and shock absorber by acess panel. Most are mounted on the firewall i have noticed. I get within 1 volt of battery when i ground on ecu housing and .4 when i ground on sheetmetal behind ecu. Stupid question time. It looks like i have a bad ground like was sugested in a different post. Would a new wireing harness for the ecu and mounting it on firewall be a good idea. I have a purple spark when i checked.

I had mine mounted (and grounded) on the inner fender and I ran an additional ground from the ecu to the firewall ground.
