cluster brake light coming ON

my cluster brake lights is coming ON very frequently, in fact mostly of the time... when driving and when stopping... then sometimes goes OFF, then goes ON, WHEN PRESSING brakes... then maybe turns off, and pressing brakes turns on again...

I haven't noticed any leak. Dunno if the press witch at dist block reads also pressure fail on master cilinder or just from dist block to wheels... I'm thinking on master cilinder seals failure.

I'm having master cilinder getting emptied slooowly, specially on big deposit ( front brakes ) but just replaced front brake pads and no clue of leak there.

what do you think ?

ONCE not too much time ago I got brake fluid on booster, Noticed when the booster front seal was gone, loosing vacuum and needing to replace. On that moment replaced pistons seals too, but does look is not working good yet. Unfortunatelly dunno how the switch wire was unplugged, so never realized if on those moments I was getting that reading. So thats my doubt about is MASTER CILINDER FAILURE is able to give reading on cluster light, being is before the switch

It might be emptying into the booster nacho.

Yes I agree, you better check and see.... :o

Brake light means loss of pressure to one side of the valve...so when brakes are applied, the valve is moved over to trigger the light...possible cause is either air in the system, or even a master cylinder by-passing inside in the front or rear system....

just my thoughts..i'm done for the year...

Yeah...there's a leak somewhere....unless there are air bubbles in the brake lines causing that light to turn on....

I had a brake warning light come on and stay on on my old '72 Charger 25+ years ago, drove me nuts, checked everything, nothing. I was getting really pissed, I actually had a screwdriver and a hammer in my hand, I was going to shove that screwdriver into that damned shining little red bastard on the dash and beat it with the hammer. I was going to put that damned little red light out of my misery once and for all...

Then I reached down and pulled the release lever on the emergency brake...

THUNK...

It was on by a couple of notches... :brickwall:

yeah I got that long time ago to LOL... but on those days I noticed DID NEED TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL to stop... right not I'm having quite perfect braking, and getting emptied the master cilinder big bowl ( front brakes )

If the big bowl is being drained...bet it's going into the booster if ya have one....and if you keep filling it up, you have air in the lines...that's why the proportioning valve is turning the light on
