Ignition Switch Replacement

I have my column apart.

How do I get the lock plate off? Special tool??

According to the 71 fsm there is a tool to press the retaining pin out and then it removes the lock plate.  If no one has an answer soon here you might want to check the 3rd gen site and see if anyone has a slick way of doing it without the special secret tool.

remove the pin and you are done!

then wheel could it be some stuck... pry it out a little but and will come off easily

It worked!!!   I got the pin out.

I found the ignition switch had come apart...

Maybe that is why it wouldn't start???   Shorted red wire...

not shorted, simply melted for load that terminal is not able to hold. Is very tipical get that burnt spot.

yes fail it could be there, but I don't think inside switch. just damaged terminal. ALTHOUGHT I have seen worst switches working good yet.

get a new one and done... those are easy to find
