Psst! Wanna buy the Deora, or maybe the Road Agent? Here's your chance
While we're not yet a full decade into the 2000s, RM Auctions recently announced what could be the hot rod auction of the century.

After all, what other event, let alone an auction, has or will assemble vehicles such as the Deora, Ed Roth's Road Agent, the Khougaz roadster, Bill Golden's Little Red Wagon and a couple dozen other hot rods, customs, lakes roadsters and drag cars?

Appropriately, RM has called the event "Icons of Speed and Style," and will offer the 80 vehicles (what RM describes as "a stunning collection of some of the most influential and iconic automobiles of the 20th century") September 26 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Of course, these icons won't come cheap. A Westergard-styled 1940 Mercury custom is estimated to sell for as much as $175,000. The Moriarty-restored Road Agent is estimated to sell for up to $350,000. The Deora — up to $550,000. Even a simple, anonymous, Model T-based lakes modified is expected to fetch up to $60,000. Yet they will all go on the block with no reserve.

"All of these cars on offer are cultural icons of the roads and race tracks of America because they encompass every aspect of American engineering, racing ingenuity and cutting edge customization," said Ian Kelleher, President and COO of RM Auctions.
