Sending unit removale trouble

Anyone got any advice how to get my sending unit out of my 73 Charger? I have it up on stands and the ground wire and fuel line is off, but I can't seem to move the lock ring...I know you knock it back counter clock wise, but it seems not to want to move at all...I hit the tabs on the top of the ring itself right? Thanks

there is a wrench for it


A little rust buster. Start with a brass punch work around all the tabs counter clockwise.

If no luck ,switch to a steel punch , If possible have a helper hit opposite tab at the same time.


last resort work lightly with an air hammer.
