Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Thanks, I'm still here although Charger-less.  :rotz:

My project now is to return home to San Diego and help out my aging parents.

As some know, my dad [84] has Alzheimer's. I visited him last month and decided to move in with him.
I drove my 08 Dodge Ram out there and flew back to Kansas.
I took a nice drive across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Truck drove out there with no problems.

Dad doesn't need much right now, he can still drive, although he really shouldn't.
My job stays the same, Santa Fe switchman.

This is great thing to do, since my folks are susceptible to scams being that they are old school nice people and don't quite understand the world today. They were scammed twice already out of money.
Unfortunately I inherited the same problem, I trust people to much too.  :P

At 43 I didn't think I'd move back home again, but hey it's for a good cause.

And guess what? NO MORE WINTERS!  :woohoo: All you snow bunnies can eat my shorts.  :moon:

I still have Charger fever, probably always will.
I've made a lot of mistakes in this hobby, most likely will return to it someday.
I'm not going to mess with it for who knows how long.

My avatar is from my 1st car that I had back in high school back in the 1980's.

Thanks all

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

That's a good thing you're doing and similar to the situation i'm starting to find myself in.  After I semi-retired I moved back to Ohio to "help out". I still have my home in Texas so it's not like I don't have a place to escape to for a couple weeks if needed.

My parents are a little younger than yours but they are old fashioned and trust everyone. Especially Dad. He wanted to have one of those gutter guards put on the house so we wouldn't have to clean gutters anymore. So I called a couple different people to come give us quotes. I talked to the first one and got a quote of just under $1300. They told me we had a 4" gutter and we had to jump up to at least a 5" gutter first since they didnt make a gutter guard for 4" gutters. Anyway, long story short Dad talked to the second guy when I wasn't there and he got talked into the same exact thing but this one is going to cost $2200. I asked Dad why he would spend an additional $900 for the same exact thing and he said the guy told him that his was better and guaranteed forever.  :brickwall:

Anyway, Happy late Birthday.

Dave

God must love stupid people; He made so many.
