The Health Care provider I work for laid off 100 contractors, eliminated 80 open positions that were frozen and laid off 121 Full Time Employees today.

My Supervisor was let go as well as one other person in my department.

I have been working for this company for less than 6 months and really figured I would be let go.   :scratchchin:

Its expected that management will anounce a reorganization Wednesday, not really sure what that is going to mean yet but figure it will be in preperation of another round of lay offs.

Nice to still have a job.

I tell you times are scary right now.  Everyone is expendable and can find themselves out of work in the blink of an eye.   Good thing you are still there but I can imagine you are nervous.

I know how it feels. Lots of guys got laid off where I work at. We used to work 20 hr weeks (whoever was left over) We had numerous lay-offs and this is probably not the end of it. I should be thankful I still have my job.

My boss has cut us back to 35 hour workweeks, unless we're busy enough to justify keeping everyone in. Fortunately no one has been laid off (fingers crossed). I'm fairly confident my position is secure, I have some unique skills that no one else at the shop has. That's all I have though as my boss did say that seniority will not be considered if he does have to start laying people off. I've been there 11 years, and I'm hoping to stick around.

Its good to know where you stand with the company you work for.

There was one guy in my department that has been there for 10+ years and got the boot.

He is not very happy about it (don't blame him).
I hear he has got a lawyer and it trying to get an answer why.

I definitely feel for the guy but I am also glad its not me.

Weird feeling.

Today they started the reorganization.  people and departments getting shuffled around.  I think there will be one more small round of lay offs after they are done playing musical employees.

short story....
Tuesday after the lay offs I show up to work and my building badge does not work, it got deactivated.
Later that morning my Blackberry stops receiving e-mail, took an hour with support to get it back on.
Three hours later my phone is shut off.  No call out or in, no e-mail no sms pages nothing.

Why????
Monday a employee with a name very very close to mine got laid off and a few people were in a hurry to shut everything off and I got caught in the cross fire.  Today the culprits saw me in the hallway and came up to apologise.

Just wait till they see what I'm going to do to them.
