I have been thinking about doing some mods to my 318 and then thought about just getting a crate 360. Thing is, the car is %100 original and I don't want to ruin that. Should I go ahead and replace the 318 and keep it laying around or leave it as it is? I don't know what to do :shruggy:

You're worrying too much, it isn't a rare and overpriced Hemi car.  At the risk of insulting you (and that is NOT my intention), you have to realize that it's a 318 car and from a year where they sold tens of thousands of them equipped like that.  I think it's rare that it's still all original and it's also very cool but the dollar value isn't there to relegate the car to garage art status.  Enjoy the car for what it is and drive it drive it drive it.
That isn't to say I think you should beat the hell out of it or not take care of it.  On the contrary if it were mine I would likely pull the 318 and set it aside and go the 360 Crate engine route.

Just keep the stock 318 engine and parts just in case. :yesnod: :yesnod:

I guess I just needed some reassurance :yesnod:

I have a 318 car & a 340 car, both are staying that way. Nothing wrong with a 318 at all. I want a /6 car next.  :yesnod:

360 isn't worth the gas it eats...freshen up your 318 and keep your car original. Just my  :Twocents:

The bummer about getting a 360 crate motor is that you'll become a speed addict and want a 400, then a 472 Hemi and then a 528 Hemi, etc. You have to ask yourself what type of driving you like/want to do. Do you just want to step it up a notch and be happy or do you have a serious need for speed?

Or, you could just go twin turbo like the Challenger in the last MoPar Action! :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

Believe me....I would get a big block but that requires some changes I don't really have the  :Twocents: for that right now. I just want to step it up a notch. Not looking for a strip car or anything like that. My buddy with a 72 R/T with a 440 six pack took me for a ride. I was all smiles for a whole week :drool5: Made my 318 feel like a 4 cylinder honda :-\

Well thats what I was going to do at first. With around 3k(+-) I could have a nice 318. But this 360 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MLL-BPC4081CTC&autoview=sku#footnote just looks so tempting!

captnsim

3k to 8k is quite a jump. But it will be a "bolt in" deal. And you can save the original 318...It's all up to you. If you can afford it and still be able to put the car to original if you want...why not?
