Well after 7 years, LOTS of $$ and a divorce, My charger is finally done.  A full rotisserie job.  Bumper to Bumper everything is new. Well today was to be the day that I hear it rumble once a again.  But to my disappointment nothing.  There is power coming into the car, (radio works, wipers work, clock works)  but when I turn the key, nothing.  I can jump the solenoid and the starter turns but no power to the ignition.  I feel that it must be in the switch but haven't started troubleshooting yet.  Anyone have any ideas before I get knee deep into it?  When I turn the key the Amp Meter jumps sometimes but not consistant.

Wiring under the hood is brand new.  All ignition parts are new.  Wire harness under dash was new a few years before I started.  Switch is new

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I was reading the thread in the link.  It mentioned the neutral switch..  If this was bad the starter would still work just no ignition correct?  The starter works if you jump it across the starter relay.  I am going to replace the relay with another to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay, but it is brand new and most likely not, but possible.

N- Safety switch will keep you from turning the motor over with the key. Your switch could be adjusted wrong or bad. You could ground out the N safety switch connector on your solenoid relay and if it starts with the key then the N switch is your problem.  Its always good to carry a test lead with aligator clips with you just in case this N switch goes out on you. You could jump and bypass it and get started.

Yes, try to reseat the shifter back in park or try to start it in N first.  Might save you some money.

I thought the neutral switch just kept the starter from running? Not power to the ignition system. (mine hasn't been hooked up in many years) Is the ignition system stock?Did you check your fuse block for good contact with all fuses? Are all the grounds checked for good contact?I think I would start at the switch and check for proper continuity, and that contact was not intermittent just to base next steps on.(Being no power to "start or run") Really glad to hear you kept the car through the big "D"...I met and have friends that lost the MoPar in that situation and it always seemed a spiteful move on the EXs part, 2 things in my "D" were never less than 50% custody of kids and 100% custody of Charger! (ended up with 100% of BOTH!)

Todd - You are the man!   Grounded out the neutral switch and with the first turn of the key after 7 years, IT LIVES!!   Ran so good I had to pull it out of the shop and wash it.  Thanks

Its a safety feature to prevent the car from starting in all gears, It should only start in park and neutral.
