Bench Bleeding

I am attempting to bleed my master cylinder on the car, and I can get it to pump fluid out of the front , but nothing comes out of the back.  If I hold my finger over the rear hose after I press the brake and then release it will pump fluid out of the rear.  The level has droped in both the front and back, but the back will not work.  I do not have the lines hooked up yet.  Do you think this is a bad MC?  Any ideas on what to try?  This was suppose to be all rebuilt by dewey before I bought it.  I am pretty sure it was based upon who I purchased it from.  This is a Bendix power disc booset and MC with the lines exiting on the engine side.

Run fittings and tubes going back up and into the reservoirs fill that up and pump that thing like crazy! Smash it all the way till it stops and let it back real slow a few times to start, you probably got an air bubble in there.

I have set up the tubes running out of the side and into the resevoir, but the rear will only work if i press the pedal and before releaseing I hold my finger over the hose.  Then it will such fluid in so that it can force it out.  Anybody ever run into this before?

Wheres the bench? (just kidding) I've had a couple that drove me nuts this way but they always came around after working them over, I'd say it's time to get a vacuum tool... hand or air driven and pull a quart through there...if that don't work throw that thing in the trash and get a new one! (I've ended up buying both types because I got the master going then couldn't get the empty line to bleed through both sides of the axle)Are you doing this through a booster? Maybe it's not bottoming out to purge the bubble, I think I would pull it off the car and truly "bench" it with a screwdriver and the MC in a clamp. Good luck

I am starting to loose patience with  this car.  I tried the vacuum method and that did not work.  I removed it from the car and put it in a vice and tried depressing the plunger.  This did not work.  I then tried the vacuum on the bench and that did not work.  Anybody have any ideas at this point?

Must be a bad one if you have gone through all that! Take that thing apart and see cuz that should have done it, sorry for the crappy luck, simple things can tick you off the worst. Maybe it was over honed for rebuild?

Back N Black

I read this a couple of times and not sure i understand how you are bleeding the brakes. Do you have the lines immersed in the fluid to prevent sucking air back in the MC? Check the link, did you have the lines setup at the pic in the link.

Ok I think I figured out my problem.  The lines must be below the fluid level?   :brickwall: :RantExplode:  I guess this would explain why some are using clear tubing to see bubbles.  I hope this isn't the solution because it means I have wasted a whole bunch of time being an idiot, but if so I guess it is a cheap lesson and fix.
