holly carb leaking

Guys need your help I picked up a 71 challenger has a 340 with a holly carb with a spacer what is the spacer for and why is it now leaking gase at the bottom of the spacer  please help

The spacer may be an adaptor - square bore carb to spread bore manifold or vice versa. Leaks could be intake to carb spacer gaskets or carb itself.

how old is the carb, ive seen lots of em leak gas out the actual throttle cam that runs at the base of the carb as well. id go ahead and order a rebuild kit, new base gasket should be included
