So which charger is the best for restoration? I am looking at the 1970-1973s, or would you suggest another? Open to ANY advice/knowledge you are willing to share with me. Thanks

Welcome.

First decide which year you want.

Rather than typing a whole bunch..., read these articles and that might help you decide on a year/body style.  Then once you decide, we'll get to the pros and cons of each generation Charger(read that as parts availability and $$$$$)

Good luck with your decision as they are all pretty sweet from 66-74.  I'm partial to a 69 myself.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

If your wanting a 70-73 it's a no brainer....a 70. Of course you will pay more.

So which on would be the easiest to work on and have an abundance of parts?

As far as harder to work on it doesn't make much difference. If you want to find a lot of parts you better go with the 3rd gen models (71-74) Cheaper and more plentiful.

Ok thats what I was thinking. Are there certain manufacturers that in general arent very compatible?

Welcome to the site Gartman.   Like stated before, 71-74 are cheaper and easier to find.  It all depends on what body style you like.  66-67 are going to start becoming more expensive I think soon but they are out there.  Those 66-67 bodies have a sweeeeet interior.  :yesnod: :drool5:  Good luck.   Chuck..........

ok, well i like the third generation the best. But the interior is not really an issue because i plan to do a complete overhall on the interior almost no matter what.
And i feel stupid, but are third generation manual?

You have very good taste in cars my friend.
71&72 parts are fairly interchangeable. Lots of changes to 73&74 even thou they look the same. Do a search on the site and you will find a few threads on the subject of parts interchanging.
Also sign up at Pete's 3rd gen site.

I had a 70 years ago, still wish I had it. But like my 74 just as much.

Gartman

This i think is a stupid question, but why do you like it? Besides looks

Dodge Don

I'd go with the 70. There are more repro parts available for 70s than 3rd gen. However my second favorite year would be the 71 R/T.

Gartman

Ok, how hard are the 70's to find? i havent seen any recently, in my area

Well they are the rarest of the 2nd gen Chargers so they are harder to find than say a 68 or 69. Look in MCG, EBAY local collector car traders etc.
