The sad part is that it says nothing about it being t-boned and totalled.

I just don't understand why he would want to sell a car with such a unique and special history :? :( .

If my General had a history like his, especially after being driven by 'Bo & Luke' on Smallville, NOTHING could or would make me sell it.

Fully approved, gov't certified car

Postby daytona71 » Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:16 am
KIKGAS01:
I take it you dont know the whole story of Stunts car, so here is a little update. Yes the car was written off by the insurance company here, but was bought back from them(saved from the crusher again). The car was taken to the Smith Bros and a full frame and body repair was made. On the frame jig, the car is now within factory frame specifications. The car has been totally inspected and certified by gov't inspectors to allow the car to be insured and able to drive once again. I have rode numerous times in the car, and it rides great. The car has alot of history in its life, and now is the last GL to be produced by Warner Brothers. Being the last GL to be made, plus having just been driven by John and Tom (them Dukes) is pretty special. I wish Stuntman all the best on his auction, and I know the future owner will be thrilled

Why such a big deal?

Stuntman has bought & sold a few Chargers in his day. That wasn't his first GL. And he already made no bones about posting that car for sale once this summer when the going rate for a GL replica had doubled.

----------------------------------------------------

A lot of people have cars they've go no real intentions of selling, but they'll still stick them on Ebay just on the off-chance that someone will pay a rediculously high amount for it.

Besides, a high Ebay bid can also help establish a higher value for insuring purposes.

I agree with Kikgas that it should still be disclosed that it had been in a crash. I'd sure want to know before I bought it. Anyone in the GL community worth their salt will recognize the ability of the Smith Brothers and know that the car wasn't HLPAGged back on the road, so it shouldn't be a big issue anyway.

Cool car with lots of history...I'd love to own it. Did John and Tom autograph it anywhere? I didn't go through the pics on the extra links to check.

I would almost bet that the car will not sell, unless a TOP DOLLAR collector finds out & bids it most likely VERY HIGH reserve. I would estemate that the reserve is way up there. This will most likely give Stuntman a very good idea of the value of the car anyways.

If he really wishes to sell it, good luck to him. It's just too bad that us folks that have a passion for the General Lee and all the Dukes of Hazzard don't have a chance to have a car like this . Heck I guess I could if I were to sell my house.

Yeah, the T-boning incident really oughtta be disclosed before the car changes hands. But like Charger01 said, it wasn't HPLAG-ed back together so it probably won't stop a sale or anything.

And since the car later did two ramped JUMPS and didn't break in half again . . . I guess we've got proof that Bob & Jamie fixed that T-bone pretty dang well, didn't they?

You guys all have good points. I would just like to say again, that if that GL were mine, or my GL had the history of Richard's I would keep it till I die then it would be passed on to my kids. They LOVE the Dukes and the General Lee as much as their Dad :D :D 8) 8) :!:

I wasnt trying to piss somone off here.I sell ALOT of cars and I disclose EVERYTHING I know about it.Besides in Iowa it is a 25 thousand dollar fine and you have to pay back the price of the car and all of the money somone put into it.If somone gets killed in a undisclosed accident car that was totalled it is automatic life in prison for the person who didn`t disclose that info.I have sold cars for YEARS and never had any trouble.I have had people from out of state buy cars and had NO trouble. My post was more a suggestion or advise and NOT A SLAM to our Stuntman.I like Stuntman and have alot of respect for him for what he has done and he knows that.I guess before people get upset and their feathers ruffeled they should ask what you mean or to explain yourself better if they don`t understand. The fact of the matter is that it is DISHONEST to sell a car and not tell it was totalled.Daytona 71 Don`t freak out anymore please as I do know the WHOLE STORY and the fact of the matter is that IT WAS TATALLED OUT.It is all fun and games until somone looses a eye(or gets sued)

I hope you're right Jason, that it ends up in the hands of a real fan ( like all of us here ) who would take proper care of it and treat it with the love & respect it deserves.

hey guys,

thanks for all the input. I have this pic in my descriptive pages and as they say, a picture says a thousand words:

http://www.richardcummins.com/images/bo ... er_cut.jpg

Also, there is the Government inpsection listed on the listing, which is a structural integrity inspection. A structural inspection which is passed 100% categorizes the car as completely sound. So, the hundreds of dollars I spent on inspections along with photo's of the car chopped in half should suffice. Plus this car is one half framed underneath. You couldn't bend it if you tried. Unless you tried really really hard with equipment.

I'm selling it because I don't have a 401k. I have a GL, and I need to cash in.

Still loving the Dukes,

Richard

hey Richard, maybe you can help me settle a question that I friend of mind ask me about part of what you said above, what does the structural integrity inspection look for in a vehicle?
