Photo bucket

What I'm wondering is:
People who use photobucket accounts - and link their shots to forums such as these.
Right clicking on the photos, and looking at properties, shows the picture's origins: the photobucket account. Copying and pasting that information into your browser will take you to that account.
Deleating the picture information from the heading will drop you into that account.
Then you can look at all of their pictures.

Do they know about this?

Yes. You can set the albums to be private if you want but that sort of defeats the purpose of using public image hosting.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Unless you're using it for storage.
Then you get a place like Flickr.com (which I use).
You have a choice between being totally private, letting people see your pictures (but not right click...save), or able to download your junk in various sizes.
I feel that when there's information to share, bloody well share it! Don't be a tease!
Everything I put out on the web is public domain....
Which is why I find my stuff popping up at the weirdest times and places!! Like Russia!

Is your own account set to public or private?

I have two accounts, one private account for my own personal photos, & one public account I use to post classified ad photos. If I were to post a photo from the private one, you can't get into the other photos in the account by dropping the photo info from the heading. You can however, get to see the other photos in the public account the way you mentioned, & that's exactly why I use it.

I don't think there's another way to sneak into a private album.  :shruggy:

I have private folders and public folders too.
Most of the private stuff is family pics...just in case the house burns.
All of my car stuff is set to public.

A while back, my available bandwidth suddenly went crazy & halfway through the month, I'd get 'bandwidth exceeded' links on my pics. Somebody had decided to link some of my stuff to a highly viewed site, I guess. :shruggy:
So I saved all the pics in each folder, deleted the pics to break the links & re-loaded them again. This time, I set the whole thing to private. Works much better now. ;)

I use Onfinite for my main stash anyway, it's one I pay for each month & easy to regulate what is viewable to the public. Onfinite won't handle gif's though, so that was the main reason I opened a Photobucket account. I usually just keep odds-n-ends on that one.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Ditto...
I'm starting to put my "junk" on photobucket...like my sig picture Charger...below.

I pay the $25 per year for PhotoBucket to get unlimited bandwidth and storage - although I have my own server so it seems kind of redundant. It's hard to move all the pictures now though since I've been linking to them for years. I don't use any of the tools or sharing features so I really don't know how any of the various sites compare.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Magnumcharger

And that's a good thing you don't move the pictures.
I see all of the old threads on Cuda-Challenger.com are devoid of linked pictures.
Maybe that's why?

No, it's because they blast the file storage every few months when it breaks the site. Most people over there recommend using external storage but image uploads are still allowed so people use them. But, like you said, sometimes people move or delete albums and the external links break as well. There's nearly11 GB of pics hosted on this site - and that's doesn't include the 8 GB or so from the old one. I wish some people would realize that when complaining about the uploaded file and/or duplicate name constraints. ;)

I've got tons of pictures on Photobucket, and for the longest time had a "private" account.. Then I realized if people want to go through the trouble of back stepping into my account to see my pics, more power to them, I have nothing to hide

Exactly!! :2thumbs:
People aren't stupid....so why assume they are??
If you're on the internet, and you're putting your images in a public accessed area, then don't get bent out of shape if somebody (or everybody) looks!!
