How crazy do I get on paint prep?

Last night I spent five hours gutting the interior, in part because I'm having the car painted soon and in part because most of the interior needs replaced. I took out everything but the wiring harness, the steering wheel and the heater box. How much do people normally remove when they're having the car media blasted in prep for outside paint plus door jams, trunk and engine compartment? I can see i need to get in some of the nooks and crannies with some rust inhibiter and the driver's floor has a hole in it. What do you recommend for the rust in the crannies? Wire brush and POR 15?

when I had my 68 blasted my complete dash and wiring + front end and engine were still in the car. They did floors and trunk too.

When mine was media blasted this past June, I removed dashboard, heater box, all wiring, etc.. The only thing I left on was the steering column, power boost and master cylinder. Needed both to safely transport the Charger to and from the media blast guy. Oh and also removed the fender tag. What are they charging you for the media blast Bull?  I paid $ 800 for whole car, including engine compartment and both hoods - top & under.

I was quoted between $800 and $1000 for the engine compartment, trunk, door jams, and outside. I was wondering about the master cyl. I will probably leave mine on too.

A word from the wise. In the past, I have blasted many cars with Plastic Media. Now I have all the cars that I restore blasted before I start on them ( by someone else). The more you take off the better the job will be. Lets put it this way. If you plan on painting underneath something then take it off first. It will be easier in the long run. The more you leave on the more places the media will have a place to hide.
