I have read the posts about this topic.   They are interesting.   I see some tolerant opinions.  I see intolerant opinions.

I kinda look at it this way.  France has liberal immigration laws.  They have a large influence in Islamic countries.  Radical Muslims want all "infidels" to be destroyed.   Maybe I'm wrong, but haven't alot of terrorist acts in America and Spain been carried out by these folks coming from France??

But let's not seem like we're profiling...   I mean just because the suspects are young, arabic, males, and muslim...   We shouldn't be scrutinizing young, arabic, male muslims.

Speaking of American Riots... Like Rodney King said,  "I wish we could just get along.... :boxing_smiley:

Sorry you guys,

I just couldnt resist this.....   Send the French Army in to quell the rioters and they will surrender to them too!

The way I see it: You reap what you sew...in other words. You make your bed with the devil, then you have to sleep with the devil. They made a pact with Muslim culture and were in league with Saddam...they're now reaping the fruits of that pact.

The frogs ain't the only ones who were "in league with Saddam" and have reaped the results.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

So that is what Rummy looked like 25 years ago.  Good up to date info.  Thanks.

Just shows you how long that sadistic bastard Saddam flew under the radar. Good thing he's out IMO....

The food for oil scandal was MUCH more recent, underhanded, blatant and in the face of global interest. Back then (20 PLUS years ago) we needed to play nice to get oil..it was in the best interest of ALL Americans. And I don't think the fact that we dealt for oil means that we condoned ANY inhuman acts on his part (or even knew the extent of them for that matter)...it meant we were desperate for natural rescources. On the other hand the French are hypocritical weasels who would sell their grandmother into slave labor for a little whine and cheese..let alone FREE OIL!

How convenient.

Actually we weren't "playing nice" to get oil.  We were secretly ( at the time ) giving Saddam intelligence about the Iranians.  In a nutshell, this was all after the Shah of Iran ( a U.S. "ally" ) was overthrown and replaced with an extremist Muslim govt.  What better way to keep 2 psychos occupied than to have them fight each other?  Rummy shaking hands w/ Saddam was part of this move by the U.S. government at the time.  The old saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is appropriate in this situation.  Showing a picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam has absolutely no corelation with what is going on in France.  I guess I should now post a picture of Jimmy Carter shaking hands with Kim Jong Ill, or Bill Clinton welcoming the Chinese govt to the Whitehouse.

Nupe

QuoteWith France's lax immigration standards and very, very comprehensive welfare state, these people literally do come into the country uninvited and live off the working French.  It's super-pathetic, and now they're rioting because it's not enough?

Pretty much the same deal here, but no riots.  :-\  Hard to see the truth through all the PC crap these days...  This world is a mess and the biggest problem in my opinion is the population is growing too fast.

Flew under the radar? You must have missed the Raygun administration's policy on Saddam, "Yea, we know he's a thug but he's our thug.

Sorry, I see the anti Reagan/anti America comments for what they are and I'm not taking the :puke: bait. Have fun debating amongst yourselves... :rotz:

Besides, THIS makes a bunch of sense...if you bothered to read it:
