Thanks Jim
I got that job at the VA, and actually have an interview for another position tomorrow.  Not bad, only been there a little over a month.
I really like it and I think I 'll stay there, but, I do appreciate you trying to look out for me.
You got it licked down there in Bath for sure.  I prefer the sticks...too populated down that way for me.  Hell, it's too crowded up here, now.

No mansion at all, LOL.. it's just there are some people (not me, by any stretch) with a little money in this town and that drove the taxes from what I was told, who knows.  Although I do believe the Gifford(ice cream) clan owns a home on 17 about 3 miles from me.  Now that is an effin' mansion and as soon as I win the lotto, I'll be driving up that half mile driveway with a trunk full of cash to own it. ;D   That's if I can ever find the driveway entrance.

This just came up on the net...

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

It is a good state to live in, but as Brian (NHcharger) said, the property taxes are high. I live in a border town west of Nashua (Brookline), and for a 4 bedroom colonial on 2.4 acres, I'm at $6400 a year. It varies widely from town to town though- before settling on where you live, do some research on the tax rates. Otherwise, since there is no sales or income tax, it's not bad. Unless you work in Taxachussetts (which I do), then you get to pay the state that hosted the Boston tea party (remember.... no taxation without representation!) a chunk of your income with absolutely nothing to show for it.  :icon_smile_angry: Crime is low (unless you are in some sections of the bigger cities), unemployment is low relative to the rest of the country, weather is good for 8 months of the year, and there is a good selection of shows and cruises throughout the summer in the area. And as mentioned earlier, there is NED and NHIS nearby.

I spy a lady in Walmart with 3 screaming filthy kids and 2 shopping carts full of stuff(one of them chalked by one of the kids underneath it "better get up bobby or mommy ain't gonna take you to the Mac Donalds afterwards...I ain't got the damn money anyways to be spending on that crap")
All the while.....
First shopping cart contains all the cheese, milk, eggs, bread and whatever else is paid for by the state and the second cart holds all the beer, wine, etc....... and did I mention, they are in the cigarette line, to boot.  People don't even try to help themselves around here and it's disgusting.

Mike, you paint a lovely picture of our neighboring state.
Jim, a cruise to Mt. Washington sounds great, but are you talking about driving up the auto road with our old clunkers? Do they still have the old water troughs next to the road so when our cars overheat we have access to water?

Yes they closed an hour or two early for the club and we got escourted up and down the Mt. as a Private group. We  had a tour at the top.  It was around peak foliage and or course it snowed for the first time up there while heading up.

LOL your right, might be better off  just doing a cruise around the country side.
