Hello , My family and I might have to move to the Cincinnati area this summer, Just need some help on where to move and a place to cruise in the 68 Charger with the wife and kids. Thanks for any input

I was on a business assignment at General Electric for 2 ½ years in Springdale-Tri-County, about 20 miles north of Cincinnati. I rented a house close to the Kings Island amusement park, one exit past off the 71. There are a lot of nice communities up there (above the 275 ring road) and still local to the city, I found plenty of places to drive on weekends and there were local cruises as well. This was back in 2003 so you are better checking to see what local cruises they have and where they are. Columbus and Indianapolis are convenient drives as well.

I can't help with a place to move, but you will have plenty of cruising options. Cincinnati is practically on the Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky boarders. There are lots of open spaces with options to travel via highway or backroads. An afternoon of cruising you can go to Dayton, Indianapolis, Lexington, or Louisville. If you don't like cities, it is various degrees of rural in all places between.

I live in Cincinnati. Been here most of my life. We are fairly central in that it's only about 4 hours to Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, St Louis, Knoxville, and Gatlinburg. We're 2 hours from Indianapolis, Louisville, Lexington, and Columbus. It's a great place to be a college or pro baseball, football, or basketball fan. It's a great area for cars - except in the winter when the state does everything they can to see if they can turn them to rust - although I don't believe Indiana does (except up by Chicago). On any given night there are 5-15 cruise-ins. I like the Friday night cruise at the Milford Kroger where average attendance is around 550 cars. Quaker Steak and Lube has cruises at all their locations. I think Sundays are cars and Wednesdays are bikes at most locations. Most Frisch's restaurants do weekly cruises as well. There are 2 or more what I'd consider "major" shows within 100 miles almost every weekend. The Somer Nights cruise to Somerville KY is once per month. We have at least 2 drag strips, a boatload (it seems) of dirt tracks, and 3 or 4 competitive kart tracks (plus 2 indoor recreational tracks with "real" karts). The Kentucky Speedway is close if you like NASCAR and Mid Ohio is the opposite direction if you enjoy road courses. Both offer track days and instruction. It's getting leaner as far as Mopar specific shows. We used to be within about 4 hours of all the Chrysler Classic shows and even had one locally. They've scaled back. A lot of old Mopars were made in St Louis and Detroit and most of the steel and raw materials as well. Those cars tended to get sold to many of the employees so it's amazing what you find running around (or hidden). The mopar National are in Columbus (104 miles door to parking space). Monster Mopar is in St Louis and Moparfest in Canada is a bit east of Detroit. I can get to both (with a trailer) in about 5 hours. It takes 7-9 to get to Carlisle depending on what you're driving in and how worried you are about the PA State police. Those 4 shows will account for about 8,000 Mopars over 4 months. Then there's the Goodguys shows scattered around. There are a massive amount of rod shows it seems. Duck Tails and James Dean (Indianapolis) are the week before the Pumpkin Run here which usually pulls more then 3,000 cars. Practically all the cars at all 3 are driven. I get my cars out usually in late March and can usually find days to drive all the way through October and sometimes early November. Yesterday was the first "big" show of the year and it's always a good place to pick up the calendar for the rest of the season.

And I can't forget to mention the birthplace of the "Bengal Charger". About 50 68 Chargers special ordered in orange with black stripes (even non-R/T) to celebrate the "new" professional football franchise.
